Chelsie + Giancarlo | Montego Bay, Jamaica | Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall
From The Bride:
About six years ago, I moved to the DC area and barely knew anyone. New to the area, I met up with a sorority sister for happy hour at a local bar in Arlington. First drink in hand; we decided a game of skeeball was in our immediate future. After all, it was a gaming bar! Some not-so-gentlemen were getting a little too cozy on their way to shoot basketball hoops, so we started planning our “exit strategy.” Not a moment too late, Giancarlo and Brett (his best man) asked if we were still playing and a light bulb went on.
“Where have you guys been? We have been waiting for you,” I said with strong eyes. Giancarlo immediately figured out what I was doing, played along and stuck around. We spent the whole night laughing and competing against each other until the lights came on.
A day didn’t go by without us texting each other, trying to figure out when we could get together again and, before too long, we were seeing each other every day. We knew that night we’d met “our person” that night. I remember looking at his drivers license and had a feeling I simply cannot describe – I knew that was the man I was going to marry in that moment.
Giancarlo proposed on Saturday, May 16, 2015, we drove from our home in Alexandria, VA to the other side of Northern Virginia to enjoy a day at the wineries. After a day full of tastings, we settled down at Barrel Oak Winery, bought a few bottles and headed down to the lawn where they set up picnic tables. We spent some time people watching and enjoying the last of our day. We finished up our last glass and Giancarlo went to put the bottles we bought in the car and grab the blanket so we could explore the vineyard and relax. Opening the gates into the vines, I had no idea what was ahead. As we were walking through the vines, Giancarlo suddenly dropped the blanked, kneeled down and all I remember is him say “well, there’s no better time to do this than now!”
Fast forward 4 years later, we moved to Charleston and a Destination Wedding was the works! It did not take us long to figure out we wanted a destination wedding. With being away from both family and our friends, we wanted to find a place where we could spend days celebrating coming together as one family. Being a Global Event Director, I took charge and set sail to our Jamaican Wedding. We had over 60 people who joined us for our all inclusive Wedding Week at the Hyatt Zilara & Ziva Rose Hall.
Of course there were bumps along the road, I wasn’t happy with everything, but what I do remember is how I felt – celebrating, laughing and soaking up the sun with friends and family. Most importantly, I remember the way my husband looked at me on our special day. I would not take back the memories and experiences we shared.
