If you need an excuse to add one or two more to your wedding party, look no further. This bride and groom decided to make their wedding party a real party and invite 18 (9 each!) of their closest friends and family members to join the crew. And with the bridesmaids in romantic pink gowns and the groomsmen in classic black suits – It. Looks. Incredible. Tell us your love story!

Joel and I were introduced by friends! They planned a game night while I was in town, and we got to know each other a little then. I flew back home (2 provinces away) and we kept in touch on Facebook. I was so intrigued by him and by what friends were saying about him that when I flew out 4 months later for a job interview, I wanted to make sure I saw him again, and sure enough the sparks were still there. 4 months after that we were living in the same city and started dating!
Falling in love with Joel was a gradual progression – there wasn’t a certain moment. As I asked around, everyone sang his praises and to me that spoke volumes about his character. He had all the qualities I was looking for in a life partner and we shared the same values and beliefs. The more I got to know him the more I knew he was the man I wanted to share my life with, the man I had been waiting for.
We got engaged Thanksgiving Monday. Everyone asked if I expected it – but he 100% surprised me. I was expecting it ALL summer – every walk we went on, every dinner we ate, I thought it might me ‘the’ night. So by the time October rolled around I wasn’t as quick to get my hopes up. We had spent the weekend with his family, and since Monday was a holiday we decided to paint the spare room in his house. I opened the door that morning to start cleaning it out and he had already moved everything out, and had bouquets of flowers set out and a sign asking me to marry him. I think my jaw hit the floor I was so surprised. The only thing was I was standing there, alone. Joel saw me heading for the spare room so he quickly ran to get the ring and was so nervous he was fumbling around and missed my reaction. He came running into the room behind me and slid down on one knee and proposed:)

You and your entire wedding party look AMAZING! Where did you get the dresses and suits/who are the designers?
The bridesmaids dresses were from David’s Bridal and were so flattering on all 9 girls.

How did you find your wedding videographer and what made you choose them?
I met Jeff 4 years earlier when I was in the Philippines volunteering with my church. He later moved to Canada and we kept in touch on Facebook. His work is breathtaking and hiring him to shoot our day was the best decision we made!

What was your favorite part of your wedding journey?

Everyone says how stressful wedding planning can be but I loved every minute of it. I think the whole engagement season was exciting, and I loved picking out every detail to make our day unique and memorable. We wanted to make our day as unique and true to who we are. Joel’s dad passed away of cancer so he decided to wear his dad’s wedding ring which was incredibly special. We also have a huge community of friends and family who are very dear to us, so we didn’t think twice about having a big Bridal party (9 each)! Instead of worrying about how it would look in pictures or how we would all fit at the front of the church, we owned our huge party – and a party it was! We wanted to have our nearest and dearest by our side on the biggest day of our lives – and it was the best decision we made!

What’s your #1 piece of advice for future brides?

Enjoy the day because it flies by SO fast. Hire a videographer so you can relive the day, honestly! It felt like such a blur to both of us so we’re thrilled to have caught it all on video so we can watch it again and again…and again:)
