From The Bride:
A year and a half ago, I married the love of my life. Matt and I met through work in downtown Chicago. On my first day at the office, I found out later on that he had followed me into the kitchenette to make small talk and introduce himself. I mentioned that there was pizza in the other room if he was interested, and he says that was the moment he knew he loved me – lesson learned, never underestimate food being the way to a man’s heart! Matt would randomly stop by my desk to drop off hot chocolate packets, and invite me out to after work happy hours spent at the bowling alley across the street. We spent the summer on Lake Michigan boating, gaining more friendships through each other, traveling, and best of all, falling in love. We had both been in long term relationships prior to meeting each other, but it was only a year and a week before we became engaged. It was the best and easiest decision saying yes, and our wedding was easily the best day of our lives.
For our wedding venue, we chose Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park, Chicago. It is a historic building next to the Lincoln Park Zoo with a beautiful view of the city centered in the heart of the park, so it almost feels like you’re tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city while still being in the middle of it. We wanted to include our love for the water, so we incorporated a little bit of a nautical vibe – our flower girls strutted down the aisle in the cutest sailor dresses and bonnet hats! One of my favorite parts of the day was surprising my mom and dad with a horse drawn carriage ride through the city right before the wedding! Our band, David Rothstein Band, was a total hit and we spent the entire night celebrating on the dance floor. A couple songs before the band closed up, the DJ announced a panda had escaped from the zoo, and one of our friends came running onto the dance floor in a life size panda suit – the DJ immediately started playing the “Panda” song. It was a riot! To close the evening, we had both taco and cupcake food trucks, and a sparkler sendoff into the night!
Needless to say, nothing compares to a an entire day full of all the people you love, and who have come together because of the love you have found in each other.
